About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide technical electrical expertise for day-to-day plant maintenance and strategic capital and expense projects
- Support the Site Maintenance Department in resolving equipment issues and developing instrument/electrical improvement strategies
- Provide electrical engineering support during design, construction, and commissioning of electrical infrastructure capital improvements
- Develop maintenance operating discipline and advise plant personnel on troubleshooting, repairs, and equipment service conditions
- Support capital project execution by defining scope, ensuring business needs and cost-effectiveness, and including local and industry technical requirements
- Serve as engineering owner for medium- and low-voltage distribution systems, substations, switchgear, transformers, MCCs, UPS systems, generators, emergency power, monitoring systems, lighting, grounding, and facility distribution
- Maintain site electrical documentation, including single-line diagrams, arc flash studies, protective device settings, and equipment files
- Identify technical problems in designs and existing operations and engage technology centers and subject matter experts to resolve them
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, or relevant military experience at or above a U.S. E6, Canadian Petty Officer 2nd Class, or Sergeant ranking
- 3 or more years of relevant experience
- Ability to work legally in the United States
- No visa sponsorship/support is available, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency process
- Prior Dow Maintenance, Repair, and Operations experience preferred
- Medium- and low-voltage electrical distribution experience preferred
- Willingness and ability to wear safety equipment, respirators, and personal protective equipment
- Ability to perform frequent bending, reaching, and lifting
- Ability to work in tight or closed-in spaces
- Ability to climb stairs/ladders and work at elevated heights
- Ability to stand or walk for extended periods
- Ability to perform elevated work at or above four feet and use harnesses with a total weight capacity of 300 lbs
