About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead and support branch operations to achieve financial, operational, service, and growth objectives
- Provide day-to-day leadership, direction, coaching, and support to branch employees
- Foster accountability, collaboration, communication, problem-solving, teamwork, and employee development
- Own branch Profit & Loss (P&L) performance, including revenue growth, gross margin, expense management, and profitability
- Identify and pursue new business, expand existing customer relationships, and increase market presence
- Maintain an active customer-facing presence and develop relationships with current and prospective customers
- Partner with customers, carriers, and internal stakeholders to develop domestic transportation solutions
- Apply knowledge of brokerage operations, carrier markets, capacity, pricing, and customer needs to business decisions
- Establish performance expectations, monitor results, provide feedback, and address performance concerns
- Analyze operational and financial metrics to improve productivity, enhance service, and support profitable growth
- Support employee development through communication, coaching, feedback, and growth opportunities
- Partner with regional and corporate leadership on branch objectives, business opportunities, and strategic initiatives
- Develop relationships with carriers and business partners to support service performance and capacity needs
- Promote accountability, teamwork, continuous improvement, customer service, and operational excellence
- Monitor freight market conditions, customer trends, and competitive activity
- Lead branch meetings and participate in operational and commercial planning
- Support staffing, hiring, onboarding, employee engagement, and retention
- Ensure compliance with company policies, customer requirements, regulatory standards, and transportation industry practices
- Support special projects, business initiatives, and other assigned duties
- Travel to customer locations, other DSV locations, operational facilities, and business meetings as required
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, Transportation, or a related field preferred; an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered
- 1 to 3 years of experience in domestic freight brokerage
- 2 to 4 years of people management experience
- Hands-on knowledge of brokerage operations, customers, carriers, pricing, capacity, and freight markets
- Experience providing leadership, coaching, feedback, performance management, and employee development
- Ability to build relationships, influence others, take ownership, and contribute beyond individual responsibilities
- Experience supporting business development, customer growth, account expansion, or other commercial activities preferred
- Exposure to financial and operational performance metrics, including revenue, gross margin, productivity, or profitability
- Experience in a fast-paced, customer-focused domestic transportation or brokerage environment
- Strong working knowledge of domestic freight brokerage operations and relationships among customers, brokers, and motor carriers
- Commercial mindset and ability to identify opportunities and grow the business
- Leadership capabilities, including coaching, influencing, motivating, and building credibility
- Ability to lead and develop employees and take responsibility for team performance
- Effective communication with employees, customers, carriers, and business partners
- Ability to provide clear expectations, constructive feedback, and accountability
- Strong business acumen and understanding of financial and operational performance metrics
- Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
- Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational abilities
