About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Source, negotiate with, and secure qualified transportation carriers and drivers for available freight
- Dispatch shipments and communicate pickup, delivery, routing, customer, handling, and security requirements
- Confirm carrier and driver readiness before dispatch
- Maintain communication with carriers and drivers from dispatch through final delivery
- Monitor loads for pickup, loading, in-transit progress, delivery, and shipment milestones
- Track and trace shipments and maintain real-time status information in the TMS and other systems
- Proactively obtain shipment updates from carriers and drivers
- Identify and resolve delays, missed appointments, route deviations, communication gaps, service failures, and other exceptions
- Coordinate with carriers, drivers, Operational Account Managers, and internal teams to resolve issues and adjust plans
- Escalate significant service, security, capacity, and operational concerns
- Ensure compliance with DSV, customer, operational, and shipment-specific HRHV freight requirements
- Collect, review, and maintain carrier and shipment documentation
- Verify shipment completion and documentation before closing loads in the TMS
- Develop carrier and driver relationships and expand the carrier network
- Negotiate carrier rates based on lane requirements, market conditions, capacity, service expectations, and pricing guidelines
- Provide carrier pricing, capacity information, and market intelligence to Operational Account Managers
- Identify transportation solutions balancing service, security, capacity, and cost
- Generate carrier leads and support onboarding and development of carrier partners
- Monitor transportation market conditions, capacity, rate trends, and seasonal fluctuations
- Maintain accurate carrier, driver, pricing, shipment, dispatch, and operational information
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive customer, shipment, carrier, driver, pricing, and business information
- Perform other duties and project work assigned by management
Requirements
What you’ll need- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in logistics, transportation, freight brokerage, dispatch, carrier sales, or a related field required
- Experience with Transportation Management Systems (TMS) required
- Knowledge of transportation operations, dispatch processes, carrier requirements, and industry practices
- Strong dispatch, load coordination, and shipment management skills
- Strong carrier and driver relationship management skills
- Strong negotiation, persuasion, and influencing abilities
- Strong understanding of freight brokerage, carrier capacity, and transportation operations
- Strong verbal, written, interpersonal, and telephone communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple active shipments, carrier communications, and changing operational priorities
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, mathematical, organizational, and prioritization skills
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and working knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook, and other standard business applications
- Ability to use Transportation Management Systems, shipment tracking platforms, and other transportation technology
- Ability to work independently and collaborate with Operational Account Managers and internal teams
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and adapt to changing operational needs
- Associate's or bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Transportation, or a related field preferred
- Three or more years of relevant experience preferred
- Experience with freight dispatch, load coordination, carrier sales, brokerage operations, specialized freight, carrier sourcing, rate negotiation, shipment tracking, and transportation execution preferred
- Bilingual English/Spanish skills preferred
- Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods and occasionally bend, reach, lift, or move items up to 20 pounds

Comp & perks- Base pay range of $65,000.00–$75,000.00 annually
