About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Oversee the ocean import and export process for commodity cargo, including shipping documents, customs clearance, and booking with shipping lines
Coordinate with freight forwarders, shipping lines, customs brokers, and other service providers
Build and maintain relationships with customers, vendors, and third-party service providers
Address and resolve customer inquiries promptly
Ensure compliance with customs regulations, trade laws, and other relevant regulations
Monitor changes in ocean freight regulations and export controls
Develop and implement policies and procedures to improve efficiency and service quality
Identify and execute process improvements to reduce costs and enhance customer satisfaction
Monitor and report key performance indicators, including cargo delivery times, costs, and service quality
Analyze performance data to identify trends and improvement opportunities
Supervise ocean freight coordinators and support staff

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is preferred
5 years of experience in freight forwarding, logistics, or a related field is preferred
Prior experience in ocean exports and supervisory roles is highly desirable
Prior experience in commodities is highly desirable
Familiarity with ocean freight regulations, customs requirements, and export controls
Knowledge of shipping routes and schedules
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent leadership and communication skills
In-depth knowledge of logistics, supply chain management, and ocean freight principles
Fluency in English is required
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Experience with logistics and ocean cargo management systems
Minimal domestic and international travel may be required
Ability to work extensive and occasionally staggered hours for multi-shift access
