About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop, implement, activate, and oversee daily FTZ operations in compliance with U.S. Customs regulations
- Supervise and mentor FTZ team members, including training and performance feedback
- Support operational teams with FTZ procedures, training, and best practices
- Manage inventory control and reporting within FTZ environments
- Liaise with U.S. Customs and Border Protection on FTZ-related matters
- Ensure accurate documentation, recordkeeping, and audit readiness
- Lead internal compliance reviews and implement process improvements
- Ensure compliance with customs laws concerning tariff classifications, valuation, reporting, and country of origin
- Submit and review weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual FTZ forms and reports
- Identify and mitigate FTZ compliance risks
- Lead tariff migration and duty savings strategies, including drawback, reconciliation, free trade agreement qualifications, and cost-avoidance initiatives
- Collaborate with Regulatory, Logistics, Supply Chain, transportation, and other internal stakeholders
- Resolve discrepancies and support smooth cross-border movement of goods
- Monitor regulatory and legislative changes affecting foreign trade zones and bonded warehouses
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in international trade, supply chain management, or a related field
- 4+ years’ experience in FTZ management, bonded warehouses, or trade compliance
- 2–3 years of supervisory or team leadership experience in a logistics or compliance environment
- Strong understanding of U.S. Customs regulations and FTZ operations
- Experience working with a variety of commodities and industries
- Proficient in ACE, ABI, ICRS, and ERP systems
- Previous leadership or management experience
- Strong knowledge of customs regulations and procedures
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in preparing customs documentation
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
- Familiarity with international trade agreements and requirements
- Knowledge of transportation and logistics operations
- Proficient in customs brokerage software and Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Ability to learn and adapt to new software and technology platforms
- English reading, writing, and verbal skills
- Good mathematical skills
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull 21–50 pounds
- Able to travel up to 40%
- Must be able to travel by plane and automobile
- Licensed Customs Broker (LCB) preferred
- CCS, AZS, or CZS certification advantageous
