About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Set up and release assigned account shipments imported into Canada across various transportation modes and commodities
  • Manage more complex shipments with some assistance
  • Track and trace incoming shipments and communicate with clients as required
  • Provide final accounting to CBSA for assigned accounts
  • Arrange invoice payments to steamship lines, warehouses, and government agencies
  • Arrange transportation of released cargo and maintain trucker relationships
  • Identify tasks requiring special handling, recommend process improvements, and implement resolutions
  • Follow departmental and organizational standard operating procedures and policies
  • Participate in weekly team briefings
  • Support ISO 9001 and ISO 45001 quality, health, and safety objectives
  • Perform duties supporting quality, health, safety, environmental, and sustainability goals
  • Act as a role model for DSV values and follow the Code of Conduct

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent qualification
  • Working towards Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) Designation
  • 3-5 years of freight forwarding and/or customs brokerage experience
  • Good command of verbal and written English
  • Microsoft Office suite
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to multitask, plan, prioritize, and manage time effectively
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively in a diverse multicultural environment
  • Ability to work regular hours and beyond these hours when required by business needs
  • Prolonged periods sitting and standing at a desk and working on a computer
