About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead and supervise a team of freight handlers and operational staff
- Assign tasks, provide guidance, and monitor performance
- Coordinate loading, unloading, and handling of freight shipments
- Ensure proper documentation, labeling, and packaging of goods
- Plan and prioritize freight operations to meet customer demands and deadlines
- Monitor workflow and adjust resources to optimize efficiency
- Liaise with customers, carriers, and other stakeholders regarding freight movements and issues
- Ensure timely communication and resolution of customer concerns
- Implement quality control measures and conduct inspections and audits
- Enforce safety protocols and conduct safety training
- Oversee inventory control, stock management, cycle counts, and reconciliation
- Maintain accurate inventory records and freight movement documentation, including bills of lading and shipping manifests
- Prepare operational reports covering performance metrics, inventory levels, and incidents
- Provide training, coaching, mentoring, and performance evaluations for freight handling teams
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, or a related field
- Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in freight operations or logistics roles
- Demonstrated experience in supervisory or leadership positions
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities
- Knowledge of freight handling processes and regulatory requirements
- Proficiency in warehouse management systems (WMS) and transportation management systems (TMS)
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Fluent in English (oral and written)
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Familiarity with WMS and TMS
- Certification in logistics or supply chain management (e.g., CLTD, CSCP) is preferred
- Experience with international freight operations and customs clearance processes is preferred
- Knowledge of industry-specific regulations and compliance standards is preferred
