Driver Operations Supervisor – Trucking, Fleet Operations

About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Supervise and provide day-to-day leadership to company drivers
- Establish expectations for safety, performance, service, attendance, and operational execution
- Monitor driver performance and provide coaching, feedback, recognition, and accountability
- Conduct performance reviews and address performance concerns
- Support driver onboarding, training, development, engagement, and retention
- Conduct regular driver meetings focused on safety, compliance, operational updates, performance expectations, and communication
- Coordinate daily driver assignments, schedules, and transportation activities
- Maintain communication with drivers on the road and support issues affecting safety, service, scheduling, or route completion
- Monitor driver availability, route progress, Hours of Service, traffic, weather, equipment availability, and operational conditions
- Adjust plans and optimize routes to improve on-time performance, driver utilization, fuel efficiency, and reduce deadhead miles
- Resolve or escalate driver and transportation-related operational issues
- Collaborate with operations, customer service, and internal teams on delivery concerns, service failures, and changing transportation requirements
- Train and guide drivers on technology platforms, transportation systems, procedures, and documentation
- Review and approve operational documentation, reports, driver records, and required information
- Ensure compliance with DOT regulations, federal and state transportation requirements, safety policies, and operational procedures
- Monitor safety, service, compliance, utilization, and productivity trends
- Support corrective actions, improvement initiatives, and continuous process improvement
- Use Transportation Management Systems, dispatch tools, and related technology to monitor operations and route performance
- Perform additional duties, responsibilities, and projects as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- High school diploma or GED required
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Transportation, Business, or a related field preferred; equivalent industry experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
- 1 to 3 years of experience in transportation operations, trucking, fleet management, logistics, or a related operational environment
- Minimum of 1 year of supervisory, team leadership, or driver management experience preferred
- Experience supervising or supporting company drivers in a transportation environment strongly preferred
- Experience with driver scheduling, dispatch, route management, or transportation operations preferred
- Working knowledge of Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, Hours of Service requirements, and transportation compliance
- Experience working with Transportation Management Systems (TMS), dispatch systems, or related transportation technology preferred
- Strong leadership and people-management skills
- Strong understanding of driver operations, dispatch, scheduling, route execution, and transportation workflows
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, analytical, written, and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple drivers, routes, and operational priorities simultaneously
- Ability to respond effectively to time-sensitive transportation issues and make sound operational decisions
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Ability to adhere to safety protocols and personal protective equipment requirements in operational areas
- Ability to perform regular movement throughout office, yard, and warehouse environments and occasionally stand or walk for extended periods, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, or navigate around vehicles, equipment, and freight
Benefits
Comp & perks- Base pay range of $70,000.00–$80,000.00 annually
