About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Maintain the condition of the building and equipment
  • Perform or manage general maintenance and simple repairs in plumbing, carpentry, painting, mechanical, electrical, and custodial areas
  • Execute and maintain preventative maintenance systems
  • Perform routine and long-term preventative maintenance on building and equipment systems
  • Collaborate with site management on routine inspections of material handling equipment, heating and cooling systems, mechanical and electrical systems, and plumbing
  • Inspect, maintain, and repair the building and equipment
  • Ensure daily operation of building and material handling equipment
  • Report building or equipment problems
  • Identify, report, and correct safety hazards
  • Ensure a safe work site during repairs and maintenance
  • Identify problem sources and recommend resolutions
  • Inspect, diagnose, and perform emergency repairs on facility equipment and furnishings
  • Determine methods and priorities for work assignments and repairs
  • Operate material handling equipment including forklifts, reach trucks, sweepers, scissor lifts, cherry pickers, and pallet jacks
  • Operate common hand and power tools
  • Maintain active forklift certification and follow Basic Safety Forklift Guidelines
  • Perform or assist with grounds maintenance
  • Maintain warehouse and work-area organization and cleanliness
  • Comply with standard operating procedures, site policies, safety rules, and OSHA/MSDS standards
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school Diploma or GED
  • 1+ years of general facilities, systems maintenance, and repair work experience and/or other training; equivalent combination of education and/or experience considered
  • Ability to work in unregulated warehouse temperatures during warmer and colder months
  • Basic computer skills
  • Satisfactory completion of a forklift training program
  • English reading, writing, and verbal skills
  • Basic math skills
  • Basic reading and writing skills
  • Ability to troubleshoot general maintenance and service problems
  • Ability to read and follow manufacturer's instruction manuals
  • Ability to identify problems or potential problems and take initiative to correct them
  • Ability to accomplish tasks in a timely manner
  • Ability to work independently or within a group
  • Ability to coach and develop others
  • Ability to adapt to change and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work a flexible and on-call schedule as dictated by business needs
  • Working knowledge of methods, practices, and tools related to facilities and systems maintenance and repair in plumbing, HVAC, electrical, carpentry, and mechanical systems (preferred)
  • Prior or current experience using material handling equipment (preferred)
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull 21–50 pounds
  • Ability to reach above shoulder, reach outward, squat, or kneel
