About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Ensure the safe and efficient condition of the facility and equipment
- Perform general maintenance and simple repairs in plumbing, carpentry, painting, mechanical, electrical, and custodial areas
- Perform other job assignments and assist other departments as assigned
- Execute and maintain preventative maintenance systems for the building and equipment
- Perform routine and long-term preventative maintenance to keep systems at optimum operating levels
- Collaborate with site management on inspections of material handling equipment, heating and cooling systems, mechanical and electrical systems, and plumbing
- Inspect, maintain, and repair the building and equipment
- Ensure daily operation of building and material handling equipment
- Maintain equipment and report building or equipment problems
- Identify, report, and correct safety hazards
- Ensure a safe work site during repairs and maintenance
- Identify problem sources and recommend resolutions
- Inspect, diagnose, and make emergency repairs to equipment and furnishings
- Determine methods and priorities for work assignments and repairs
- Operate forklifts, reach trucks, sweeper scrubbers, scissor lifts, cherry pickers, pallet jacks, and common hand or power tools
- Maintain active forklift certification and follow Basic Safety Forklift Guidelines
- Perform or assist with grounds maintenance
- Maintain warehouse and work-area organization and cleanliness
- Follow standard operating procedures, corporate and site-specific policies, safety rules, and OSHA/MSDS Standards
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Must have a high school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Must have at least one year of general facilities, systems maintenance, and repair work experience and/or other training; will consider an equivalent combination of education and/or experience
- Must be able to work in unregulated temperatures within the warehouse during warmer and colder months
- Basic computer skills
- Satisfactory completion of a forklift training program
- English (reading, writing, verbal)
- Basic math
- Basic reading and writing skills
- Ability to troubleshoot general maintenance and service problems
- Ability to read and follow manufacturer's instruction manuals
- Ability to spot problems or potential problems and take initiative to correct them
- Ability to accomplish tasks in a timely manner
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently or within a group
- Ability to adapt to change and work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work overtime as dictated by business, whether mandatory or voluntary
- Must have working knowledge of methods, practices, and tools related to facilities and systems maintenance and repair, including plumbing, HVAC, electrical, carpentry, and mechanical systems (preferred qualification)
- Prior or current experience using material handling equipment (preferred qualification)
- Ability to walk, stand, bend, reach above shoulder, reach outward, squat, kneel, and lift/carry/push/pull 21–50 pounds
- Must comply with OSHA/MSDS Standards and company/site safety rules
