About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Ensure the safe and efficient condition of the facility and equipment
  • Perform maintenance and simple repairs involving plumbing, carpentry, painting, mechanical, electrical, and custodial work
  • Perform or manage employees performing general maintenance and repairs
  • Execute and maintain preventative maintenance systems for the building and equipment
  • Perform routine and long-term preventative maintenance to keep systems at optimum operating levels
  • Collaborate with site management on inspections of material handling equipment, heating and cooling systems, mechanical and electrical systems, and plumbing
  • Inspect, maintain, and repair building and equipment
  • Ensure daily operation of building and material handling equipment
  • Report building or equipment problems
  • Identify, report, and correct safety hazards
  • Maintain a safe work site during repairs and maintenance
  • Diagnose problems and make emergency repairs to equipment and furnishings
  • Determine methods and priorities for work assignments and repairs
  • Operate forklifts, reach trucks, sweeper scrubbers, scissor lifts, cherry pickers, pallet jacks, and other equipment as assigned
  • Operate common hand and power tools
  • Perform or assist with grounds maintenance
  • Maintain warehouse and work-area organization and cleanliness
  • Follow standard operating procedures, company policies, safety rules, and OSHA/MSDS standards
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school Diploma or GED
  • 1+ years of general facilities, systems maintenance, and repair work experience and/or other training
  • Equivalent combination of education and/or experience will be considered
  • Ability to work in unregulated warehouse temperatures during warmer and colder months
  • Basic computer skills
  • Satisfactory completion of a forklift training program
  • English reading, writing, and verbal skills
  • Basic math skills
  • Basic reading and writing skills
  • Ability to troubleshoot general maintenance and service problems
  • Ability to read and follow manufacturer's instruction manuals
  • Ability to identify problems or potential problems and take initiative to correct them
  • Ability to accomplish tasks in a timely manner
  • Ability to work independently or within a group
  • Strong leadership skills with ability to coach and develop others
  • Ability to adapt to change and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Willingness to work a flexible and on-call schedule as dictated by business needs
  • Working knowledge of methods, practices, and tools related to facilities and systems maintenance and repair, including plumbing, HVAC, electrical, carpentry, and mechanical systems
  • Prior or current experience using material handling equipment
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull 21–50 pounds
  • Ability to reach above shoulder, reach outward, squat, or kneel
  • Ability to maintain an active forklift certification
  • Ability to comply with OSHA/MSDS standards and company/site safety policies
