About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Manage the importation of goods by ocean, including customs clearance and delivery to the final destination
- Manage the exportation of goods by ocean, including carrier booking and movement of goods through various transportation channels
- Coordinate with carriers, customs brokers, and trucking companies to ensure timely delivery
- Prepare, process, and submit required customs-clearance documentation, including commercial invoices, packing lists, and bills of lading
- Track and monitor shipments and provide customers with regular status updates
- Manage customer relationships, satisfaction, concerns, and issues
- Collaborate with logistics, finance, and operations departments
- Ensure compliance with customs regulations, trade laws, and other relevant laws
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Prior experience in freight forwarding, logistics, or a related field is preferred
- Experience in ocean import and export is highly desirable
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations, such as calculating costs and rates
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of ocean freight logistics and customs regulations
- Understanding of trade laws and regulations
- Fluency in English is required
- Knowledge of additional languages is a plus
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience with logistics software and systems is preferred
