About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Oversee the strategic direction, operation, compliance, and financial results for a designated operation
- Serve as primary customer interface for leadership decisions regarding proposal approval and contract negotiations
- Champion local continuous improvement activities, LEAN practices, supply chain analysis, Six Sigma initiatives, and ISO activities
- Develop marketing plans and assist in growing new business
- Ensure adherence to corporate mission, vision, core values, and client/company expectations
- Establish systems and procedures for safe and profitable management of operations, equipment, and products
- Lead operations to meet productivity and service goals and comply with client operating agreements
- Set goals to drive continuous improvement efforts
- Maintain productive relationships with vendors, suppliers, business partners, and clients
- Implement OSHA and federal/state compliance requirements
- Develop and manage controls for service levels, operational performance, costs, revenue, and profit
- Partner with senior leadership to develop and recommend the annual operating budget
- Ensure overall safety and security of the operation
- Develop the team to achieve company and client objectives
- Support mentoring, succession planning, and management development
- Communicate the mission, vision, and core values to direct reports
- Develop automation and technology plans and capital requests
- Ensure software and hardware purchases comply with Corporate IT policies
- Lead client relationship management and business reviews
- Provide operational and administrative support to client accounts
- Participate in account strategies, prospecting, new opportunities, quoting rates, and marketing/sales activities
- Develop and maintain contract pricing in a multi-client environment
- Manage sanitation, maintenance, security, housekeeping, safety, and material handling equipment programs
- Ensure team members are trained on material handling equipment
- Establish a proactive safety culture and audit warehouse compliance
- Work overtime as dictated by business needs
- Manage operations managers
- Perform other duties as required
Requirements
What you’ll need- Must have a high school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- 7 years’ experience working in a logistics/distribution/relevant environment
- 5 years’ experience in a leadership role in logistics/distribution/supply chain environment in operations management capacity
- Must be able to work in unregulated temperatures within the warehouse during warmer and colder months
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
- Demonstrated proficiency in applicable WMS systems
- English reading, writing, and verbal proficiency
- Proficiency in business communication at all levels
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Good organizational and personnel skills
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Good leadership, supervision, and planning skills
- Advanced expertise in accounting and financial mathematical applications related to managing a P&L and preparing site/operation budgets
- Ability to adapt to change and thrive in a stimulating, fast-paced work environment
- Ability to develop effective relationships, provide leadership, and integrate diverse organizations and individuals toward unifying objectives
- Ability to lift, carry, and push/pull 21–50 pounds
- Ability to reach above shoulder, reach outward, squat, or kneel
- Bachelor’s degree is preferred
