About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Maintain perpetual record integrity and inventory accuracy while maximizing space utilization
- Monitor inventory levels, product movement, and non-conforming product
- Ensure a conforming product mix for efficient order fulfillment
- Oversee inventory associates and other department staff
- Input data accurately into the WMS
- Stack and store products in appropriate areas
- Maintain and enhance client relationships
- Develop and monitor space utilization and layout plans
- Develop and maintain a product locator system
- Delegate work and responsibilities to subordinates
- Oversee shifts and evaluate inventory staff performance
- Analyze cycle counts and reconcile discrepancies between physical counts and perpetual records
- Audit daily error reports and make corrections
- Analyze and publish monthly WMS cycle-count variance data
- Validate stock-change transactions, miscellaneous receipts, and issues
- Lead physical inventory activities
- Research inventory audit trails and implement corrective actions
- Drive process improvements and prepare monthly project and issue reports
- Assist with associate relations and training
- Audit the warehouse for safety, security, quality, cleanliness, and orderliness
- Prepare communications, corrective/preventive actions, operational reports, attendance reports, counseling memos, and evaluations
- Conduct daily startup meetings and coordinate operations to achieve daily objectives
- Communicate labor and equipment needs to management
- Develop team leaders and ensure associate expectations are met
- Partner with leadership to communicate policies and procedures
- Ensure training and development for associates on product placement and equipment usage
Requirements
What you’ll need- Must have a high school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- 4 years’ experience in Distribution/Logistics
- 2 years’ experience working in a logistics/distribution/relevant environment in a supervisory role
- Able to operate MHE
- Able to work in unregulated warehouse temperatures during warmer and colder months
- Satisfactory completion of a forklift training program
- Basic computer skills
- RF Scanners
- WMS functions
- Microsoft Excel
- English reading, writing, and verbal skills
- Basic to intermediate mathematical skills for verifying quantities, counting inventory, and related duties
- Trained and/or certified in inventory management methodologies and tools such as Six Sigma and Lean
- Strong planning, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Analytical and results-oriented
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to facilitate small and large groups
- Ability to develop staff through training, delegation, mentoring, and empowerment
- Must foster continuous improvement
- Must be able to work flexible schedules, including nights and weekends
- Must work overtime as dictated by the business
- Preferred: College degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, and Operations or equivalent
- Preferred: 6+ years in a 3PL
- Preferred: Current or prior MHE certification
- Preferred: Able to operate Electric Pallet Jack and Dock Loader (Pacer) when needed
