About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Monitor active shipments and transportation milestones from origin pickup through final delivery
  • Review and update shipment tracking reports at least every two hours
  • Track pickup, in-transit, estimated arrival, delivery, and other customer or operational milestones
  • Obtain shipment updates through GPS, tracking systems, Transportation Management Systems (TMS), and other technology platforms
  • Contact drivers, carriers, brokerage offices, and transportation partners for status updates
  • Document shipment updates, estimated arrival times, delays, and other relevant information in required systems and reports
  • Monitor for missed milestones, potential delays, and exceptions; escalate concerns for resolution
  • Follow up on outstanding shipment updates and open items
  • Communicate shipment status information to internal stakeholders
  • Track first-, middle-, and final-mile movements and identify service disruptions or delays
  • Confirm delivery status and supporting shipment information
  • Maintain accurate shipment data in the TMS and other tracking tools
  • Follow customer requirements, operating procedures, and escalation processes
  • Support the Control Tower team with shipment research, reporting, and operational activities
  • Support ad-hoc reporting and project assignments
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • 1–2 years of experience in transportation, logistics, freight brokerage, customer service, dispatch, or a related field preferred
  • Experience with transportation management, shipment tracking, GPS, or similar technology platforms preferred
  • Experience communicating with drivers, carriers, or transportation providers is a plus
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and Teams
  • Ability to learn and effectively use Transportation Management Systems (TMS), GPS tracking platforms, and other transportation technology
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate shipment information
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to monitor multiple shipments and priorities in a deadline-driven environment
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfortable communicating by phone with drivers, carriers, brokerage offices, and internal teams
  • Ability to identify potential delays or exceptions and escalate issues appropriately
  • Ability to follow established processes, procedures, and customer requirements
  • Basic problem-solving skills and ability to research missing or incomplete shipment information
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment
  • Organized, dependable, and proactive in following up on outstanding items
  • Fluency in English is required; knowledge of additional languages is a plus
  • Ability to work in a professional office environment and potentially outside standard business hours, including evenings, weekends, or holidays
