About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Manage day-to-day site operations, including warehousing, receiving, and shipping
  • Plan inbound and outbound volume, customer communications, space utilization, and equipment management
  • Hire and train employees, plan labor, conduct performance appraisals, address performance issues, and resolve problems
  • Develop systems and procedures for safely and profitably managing operations, equipment, and products
  • Manage operations to meet productivity, service, client SLA, KPI, quality, cost, revenue, and profit objectives
  • Drive continuous improvement and identify efficiency and cost-saving measures
  • Communicate critical operational issues to senior management and client representatives
  • Plan daily work schedules, review work orders and arrival notices, assess priorities, and assign warehouse duties
  • Plan warehouse-space reorganizations and changes to supply, equipment, and staffing levels
  • Ensure effective training, trainee assessment, SOP adherence, and team development
  • Conduct routine staff meetings
  • Ensure team proficiency with required information systems, including WMS
  • Manage customer service standards, client support, customer meetings, and site visits
  • Support annual operating-budget development and controls for service levels and operational performance
  • Manage sanitation, maintenance, security, housekeeping, safety, and material-handling equipment programs
  • Establish a proactive safety culture and audit warehouse compliance with safety, security, quality, and statutory requirements
  • Manage warehouse operations supervisors and support staff
  • Work overtime as dictated by business and perform other assigned duties

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Must have a high school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • 7 years’ experience working in a logistics/distribution/relevant environment
  • 5 years’ experience in a supervisory role
  • Must be able to work in unregulated warehouse temperatures during warmer and colder months
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
  • Demonstrated proficiency with applicable WMS systems
  • English reading, writing, and verbal proficiency
  • Proficiency in business communication at all levels
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Good organizational and personnel skills
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Good leadership, supervision, and planning skills
  • Able to work flexible schedules, including nights and weekends, as required
  • Ability to participate in cross-training activities
  • Must effectively adapt to change and thrive in a stimulating, fast-paced work environment
  • Ability to walk and stand constantly, bend frequently, and handle/finger and sit occasionally
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull 21–50 pounds and reach above shoulder, reach outward, squat, or kneel
