About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead and coordinate day-to-day Cloud Operations across carrier sales and dispatch, operational account management, and dedicated lane operations
- Lead, coach, and develop people managers and individual contributors
- Establish expectations, accountability, performance standards, staffing, workload management, and employee development
- Translate General Manager priorities into operational expectations, action plans, and measurable results
- Monitor workflows, shipment execution, capacity, dispatch, tracking, on-time performance, exceptions, and final delivery
- Oversee execution of high-risk, high-value freight and ensure customer, security, SOP, service, and shipment requirements are followed
- Provide leadership during complex, time-sensitive, or high-impact operational situations and resolve escalations
- Build customer relationships and serve as a leadership escalation point
- Participate in customer meetings, Monthly Business Reviews, Quarterly Business Reviews, and account discussions
- Oversee carrier capacity, dispatch execution, dedicated lane operations, pricing, service trends, and cost management
- Analyze revenue, margin, cost, shipment volume, service levels, carrier performance, and other KPIs
- Identify root causes, risks, trends, and improvement opportunities; implement corrective actions
- Support budget, profitability, service, forecasting, cost management, and financial performance objectives
- Improve workflows, processes, technology utilization, communication, efficiency, scalability, and profitability
- Support implementation of new customers, lanes, services, and business opportunities
- Partner with P&O and the General Manager on recruitment, workforce planning, development, performance management, and succession planning
- Ensure compliance with company policies, customer requirements, safety standards, operational procedures, and regulations
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive customer, shipment, carrier, pricing, employee, and business information
Requirements
What you’ll need- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Transportation, Business Administration, or related field preferred
- Equivalent relevant industry experience may be considered
- Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible experience in freight brokerage, transportation operations, 3PL, or related field required; 7+ years preferred
- Minimum 3 years of people leadership experience in transportation, logistics, brokerage, dispatch, account management, or related operational environment required
- Experience managing operational and financial performance, including revenue, margin, cost, service levels, and KPIs
- Experience managing customer relationships and complex operational or service escalations
- Experience with carrier capacity, dispatch, transportation pricing, account management, and shipment execution
- Experience with Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and other transportation technology required
- Strong leadership, people-management, analytical, financial, communication, negotiation, decision-making, problem-solving, organizational, and prioritization skills
- Proficiency with TMS and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel
- Working knowledge of transportation regulations, safety requirements, and industry practices
- Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods; occasional lifting or moving items up to 20 pounds
