Manager, Operations

About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Manage day-to-day site operations, including warehousing, receiving, and shipping
- Plan inbound and outbound volumes, customer communication activities, space utilization, and equipment management
- Supervise warehouse operations supervisors and support staff
- Hire and train employees, manage labor planning, conduct performance appraisals, address performance issues, and resolve problems
- Develop systems and procedures for safe and profitable operations
- Manage operations to meet productivity, service, client SLA, KPI, quality, cost, revenue, and profit objectives
- Drive continuous improvement and identify cost-saving measures
- Keep senior management and client representatives informed of critical operational issues
- Plan daily work schedules, review work orders and arrival notices, assess priorities, and assign warehouse duties
- Plan warehouse-space reorganization and changes to supplies, equipment, and staffing
- Ensure effective training, SOP adherence, trainee assessment, and team development
- Conduct routine staff meetings
- Ensure team proficiency with WMS and other required information systems
- Ensure software and hardware purchases comply with Corporate IT policies
- Maintain customer service standards and operational support for client accounts
- Attend or lead customer meetings and coordinate supplier/customer site visits
- Support annual operating budget development and maintain operational and financial controls
- Manage sanitation, maintenance, security, housekeeping, safety, and material-handling equipment programs
- Establish a proactive safety culture and audit warehouse compliance with safety, security, quality, and statutory requirements
- Work overtime as dictated by business needs and perform other assigned duties
Requirements
What you’ll need- Must have a high school diploma or GED
- 7 years’ experience working in a logistics, distribution, or relevant environment
- 5 years’ experience in a supervisory role
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Must be able to work in unregulated warehouse temperatures during warmer and colder months
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Demonstrated proficiency with applicable WMS systems
- English reading, writing, and verbal proficiency
- Proficiency in business communication at all levels
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Good organizational and personnel skills
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Good leadership, supervision, and planning skills
- Able to work flexible schedules, including nights and weekends, as required
- Ability to participate in cross-training activities
- Must effectively adapt to change and thrive in a stimulating, fast-paced work environment
- Ability to walk and stand constantly, bend frequently, and handle/finger and sit occasionally
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull 21–50 pounds
- Ability to reach above shoulder, reach outward, squat, or kneel
