About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Manage day-to-day site operations, including warehousing, receiving, and shipping
- Plan inbound and outbound volumes, customer communications, space utilization, and equipment management
- Supervise warehouse operations supervisors and support staff
- Develop systems and procedures for safe and profitable operations
- Manage productivity, service goals, client SLAs, KPIs, and quality-system requirements
- Drive continuous improvement and cost-saving initiatives
- Hire, train, counsel, evaluate, and develop team members; recommend promotions and wage increases
- Keep senior management and client representatives informed of critical operational issues
- Plan daily work schedules, assess priorities, and assign warehouse duties
- Plan warehouse-space reorganization and staffing, supply, and equipment changes
- Ensure training delivery, trainee progress assessment, and adherence to DSV and client SOPs
- Conduct routine staff meetings
- Ensure team proficiency in information systems, including WMS; support software and hardware purchasing under IT policies
- Manage customer-service standards, client support, customer meetings, and site visits
- Support annual operating-budget development and financial controls
- Manage sanitation, maintenance, security, housekeeping, safety, equipment, and material-handling-equipment programs
- Establish a proactive safety culture and audit warehouse compliance
- Perform other assigned duties and work overtime as required
Requirements
What you’ll need- Must have a high school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Bachelor’s degree is preferred
- 7 years’ experience working in a logistics/distribution/relevant environment
- 5 years’ experience in a supervisory role
- Must be able to work in unregulated warehouse temperatures during warmer and colder months
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
- Demonstrated proficiency with applicable WMS systems
- English reading, writing, and verbal proficiency
- Proficiency in business communication at all levels
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Good organizational and personnel skills
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Good leadership, supervision, and planning skills
- Able to work flexible schedules, including nights and weekends, as required
- Must participate in established cross-training metrics activities
- Must effectively adapt to change and thrive in a stimulating, fast-paced work environment
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull 21–50 pounds
- Ability to reach above shoulder, reach outward, squat, or kneel
