About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Manage day-to-day site operations, including warehousing, receiving, and shipping
  • Plan inbound and outbound volume, customer communications, space utilization, and equipment management
  • Hire and train employees; manage labor planning, performance appraisals, performance issues, and problem resolution
  • Develop systems and procedures for safe and profitable operations
  • Manage operations to meet productivity, service, client SLA, KPI, quality, and cost objectives
  • Drive continuous improvement and identify cost-saving measures
  • Collaborate with Human Resources on hiring, training, professional development, promotions, and wage increases
  • Keep senior management and client representatives informed of critical operational issues
  • Plan daily work schedules and assign duties to warehouse staff
  • Plan warehouse-space reorganization and changes to supplies, equipment, and staffing
  • Ensure effective training, trainee progress assessment, SOP adherence, and team development
  • Train team members on WMS and other required information systems; support procurement and technology updates
  • Maintain high customer-service standards and provide operational and administrative support to client accounts
  • Lead or attend key customer meetings and coordinate supplier/customer site visits
  • Support annual operating-budget development and financial controls
  • Manage sanitation, maintenance, security, housekeeping, safety, equipment, and material-handling-equipment programs
  • Establish a proactive safety culture and audit warehouse compliance with safety, security, quality, and statutory requirements
  • Conduct routine staff meetings and perform other assigned duties
  • Work mandatory or voluntary overtime as dictated by business needs
  • Manage warehouse operations supervisors and support staff

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 7 years’ experience working in a logistics, distribution, or relevant environment
  • 5 years’ experience in a supervisory role
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of applicable WMS systems
  • English reading, writing, and verbal proficiency
  • Proficiency in business communication at all levels
  • Ability to work in unregulated warehouse temperatures ranging from mild to moderate during warmer and colder months
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including nights and weekends
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull 21–50 pounds
  • Ability to walk and stand constantly, bend frequently, and reach above shoulder, reach outward, squat, or kneel
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational, personnel, communication, leadership, supervision, and planning skills
  • Ability to adapt to change and thrive in a stimulating, fast-paced work environment
