About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Ensure contract adherence across client relations, operational performance, commercial and financial performance, people management, development, and continual improvement
  • Manage a team of 50–100 employees
  • Manage operations according to DSV standards, policies, and procedures
  • Cascade DSV strategy, goals, and initiatives through the organization
  • Support development of services and solutions for the automotive industry
  • Provide accountability and leadership for Ford Silverton operations in Gauteng
  • Meet all customer SLAs
  • Ensure site compliance with DSV standards, SHERQ requirements, quality management systems, safety, quality, delivery, policies, regulations, work instructions, maintenance schedules, and local safety authority requirements
  • Unlock operational synergies and drive collaboration with other DSV business units
  • Ensure client needs and expectations are met within the SLA scope
  • Investigate claims and report incident details internally
  • Manage daily operational performance to achieve performance targets
  • Deliver continuous improvement requirements and drive a Lean culture
  • Manage internal stakeholder communications, meetings, conference calls, and forums
  • Analyze delivery failures, complaints, damages, and other customer dissatisfaction issues to determine root causes and corrective actions
  • Assist with monthly KPI dashboard results, reporting, root cause analysis, and corrective action tracking
  • Ensure operational readiness for program launches
  • Perform other duties requested by the Branch Manager
  • Develop and motivate direct reports
  • Ensure direct reports have job descriptions
  • Provide training and development to close skills gaps
  • Ensure headcount and resources align with budget
  • Ensure behavior and operations comply with DSV policies and procedures
  • Cascade relevant information to subordinates
  • Hold direct reports accountable for outputs

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Matric
  • Degree/diploma in Supply Chain or Logistics Management, Industrial Engineering or related field — advantage
  • Knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS)
  • Strong knowledge of WMS EWM
  • Experience as a CMMS Key User — advantage
  • 2 to 5+ years of automotive material handling and line supply experience
  • Automotive OEM or Tier-1 manufacturing experience
  • Experience managing multiple operations, inbound and outbound logistics, warehouse processes, and part supply through sequencing
  • Ability to investigate and close inventory stock variances caused by incorrect system transactions, bills of material, etc.
  • Knowledge of root cause analysis, problem solving, and corrective and preventative measures
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience supervising or leading a warehouse operations team
  • Experience with performance management, absence management, identifying development requirements, and accountability
  • 1–2 years of experience in compliance management
  • 1–2 years of experience managing service delivery to clients according to SLAs
  • Understanding of KPIs, standards, and compliance
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Effective conflict and stress management skills
  • Ability to work extended hours and weekends
