About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Manage day-to-day warehouse operations, including receiving, shipping, and product storage
- Plan inbound and outbound volume, customer communications, space utilization, and equipment management
- Supervise warehouse operations supervisors and support staff
- Develop safe, profitable systems and procedures for operations, equipment, and products
- Manage operations to meet productivity, service, KPI, quality, and client SLA goals
- Drive continuous improvement and identify cost-saving measures
- Hire, train, coach, evaluate, and develop team members; address performance issues and discipline when needed
- Plan daily work schedules, assess priorities, and assign warehouse duties
- Review volume demands and plan warehouse-space, supply, equipment, and staffing changes
- Ensure training delivery, SOP adherence, and trainee progress assessment
- Conduct routine staff meetings
- Ensure team proficiency with WMS and other required information systems
- Manage customer service standards, client support, customer meetings, and site visits
- Support annual operating-budget development and manage operational cost, revenue, and profit controls
- Manage sanitation, maintenance, security, housekeeping, safety, and material-handling-equipment programs
- Establish a proactive safety culture and audit warehouse compliance
- Keep senior management and client representatives informed of critical operational issues
- Work overtime as dictated by business needs and perform other assigned duties
Requirements
What you’ll need- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- 7 years’ experience working in a logistics/distribution/relevant environment
- 5 years’ experience in a supervisory role
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
- Demonstrated proficiency with applicable WMS systems
- English reading, writing, and verbal proficiency
- Proficiency in business communication at all levels
- Ability to work in unregulated warehouse temperatures during warmer and colder months
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including nights and weekends
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Good organizational and personnel skills
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Good leadership, supervision, and planning skills
- Ability to adapt to change and thrive in a fast-paced work environment
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull 21–50 pounds
- Ability to walk and stand constantly, bend frequently, and occasionally sit, handle/finger, squat, kneel, and reach above shoulder or outward
