About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Manage day-to-day site operations, including warehousing, receiving, and shipping
  • Plan inbound and outbound volumes, customer communication activities, warehouse space utilization, and equipment management
  • Supervise warehouse operations supervisors and support staff
  • Hire and train employees, plan labor, conduct performance appraisals, address performance issues, and resolve problems
  • Develop systems and procedures for safe and profitable operations
  • Manage operations to meet productivity, service, client SLA, KPI, quality, cost, and revenue objectives
  • Drive continuous improvement and identify cost-saving opportunities
  • Keep senior management and client representatives informed of critical operational issues
  • Plan daily work schedules, assess priorities, and assign warehouse duties
  • Review volume demands and plan warehouse-space, supply, equipment, and staffing changes
  • Ensure effective training, trainee assessment, SOP adherence, and team development
  • Train team members on required information systems, including WMS, and ensure compliance with corporate IT policies
  • Manage customer service standards, client support, customer meetings, and supplier/customer site visits
  • Support annual operating-budget development and maintain operational controls within financial parameters
  • Manage sanitation, maintenance, security, housekeeping, safety, equipment, and material handling equipment programs
  • Establish a proactive safety culture and audit warehouse compliance with safety, security, and quality requirements
  • Conduct routine staff meetings and work overtime as dictated by business needs

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 7 years’ experience working in a logistics, distribution, or relevant environment
  • 5 years’ experience in a supervisory role
  • Must be able to work in unregulated warehouse temperatures, ranging from mild to moderate in warmer and colder months
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Demonstrated proficiency with applicable WMS systems
  • English reading, writing, and verbal proficiency
  • Proficiency in business communication at all levels
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including nights and weekends, as required
  • Ability to participate in cross-training activities
  • Ability to adapt to change and thrive in a fast-paced work environment
  • Ability to walk and stand constantly, bend frequently, and occasionally sit and handle/finger objects
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull 21–50 pounds
  • Ability to reach above shoulder, reach outward, squat, or kneel
