About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Ensure the safe and efficient condition of facilities and equipment across the assigned region
- Lead and develop facilities and maintenance teams and ensure appropriate staffing levels
- Manage Managers, Facilities Operations; Managers, Facilities; Facility Specialists, Assistants, and Maintenance employees
- Manage facilities and maintenance vendor relationships to ensure timely preventative maintenance and repair
- Maintain buildings and equipment and oversee general maintenance and simple repairs involving plumbing, carpentry, painting, mechanical, electrical, and custodial work
- Execute and maintain preventative maintenance systems and perform routine and long-term preventative maintenance
- Collaborate with site management on inspections of material handling equipment, heating and cooling systems, mechanical and electrical systems, and plumbing
- Inspect, maintain, and repair buildings and equipment; ensure daily operation of building and material handling equipment
- Identify, report, and correct safety hazards and ensure safe work sites
- Identify sources of problems, recommend resolutions, inspect and diagnose issues, and make emergency repairs
- Operate material handling equipment and common hand or power tools according to safety guidelines
- Perform or coordinate grounds maintenance
- Maintain warehouse and work-area organization and cleanliness
- Comply with SOPs, company and site policies, safety and work rules, and OSHA/MSDS standards
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree or technical/trade school certification required
- 10+ years of general facilities, systems maintenance, and repair work experience and/or other training; equivalent combination of education and/or experience considered
- Ability to work in unregulated warehouse temperatures during warmer and colder months
- Intermediate computer skills
- Satisfactory completion of a forklift training program
- English reading, writing, and verbal skills
- Intermediate math skills
- Basic reading and writing skills
- Ability to troubleshoot general and complex maintenance and service problems
- Ability to read and follow manufacturer’s instruction manuals and building blueprints
- Ability to identify problems or potential problems and take initiative to correct them
- Ability to accomplish tasks in a timely manner
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work independently or within a group
- Strong leadership skills with ability to coach and develop others
- Ability to adapt to change and work in a fast-paced environment
- Willingness to work a flexible and on-call schedule as dictated by the business
- Working knowledge of methods, practices, and tools related to facilities and systems maintenance and repair, including plumbing, HVAC, electrical, carpentry, and mechanical systems (preferred qualification)
- Prior or current experience using material handling equipment (preferred qualification)
- Ability to lift/carry and push/pull 21–50 pounds
- Ability to reach above shoulder, reach outward, squat, or kneel
- Must maintain an active forklift certification
