About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Serve as primary point of contact for assigned customers and develop long-term relationships
  • Manage day-to-day domestic freight brokerage activities for assigned accounts
  • Coordinate freight movement from pickup through final delivery
  • Review shipment requests and determine transportation solutions based on service, capacity, pricing, equipment, and customer requirements
  • Partner with Carrier Sales to identify qualified capacity and transportation solutions
  • Provide pricing guidance to Carrier Sales
  • Negotiate rates and service requirements with transportation carriers and providers
  • Communicate customer-specific handling, tracking, and service requirements to internal teams and providers
  • Monitor active shipments and communicate status, milestones, delays, and exceptions
  • Identify and resolve shipment exceptions, service failures, delays, and operational concerns
  • Escalate significant service or operational concerns
  • Maintain shipment, customer, carrier, pricing, and operational information in the TMS and other systems
  • Collaborate with Carrier Sales and internal departments to meet or exceed customer expectations
  • Analyze account activity, transportation spend, service performance, shipment trends, risks, and opportunities
  • Prepare and present customer spend, service, operational, and performance reporting
  • Conduct Monthly Business Reviews and Quarterly Business Reviews
  • Identify opportunities to expand customer relationships through additional lanes, services, and shipment volume
  • Research and develop growth opportunities within assigned branch house accounts
  • Develop solutions that improve service, efficiency, profitability, and account performance
  • Maintain knowledge of transportation market conditions, carrier capacity, pricing trends, customer requirements, and service solutions
  • Build relationships across departments, business units, customers, carriers, vendors, and external partners
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive business information
  • Perform other duties and project work assigned by management

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Transportation, or a related field preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in logistics, transportation, freight brokerage, account management, or a related field required; 5 or more years preferred
  • Experience working within domestic freight brokerage or transportation operations strongly preferred
  • Experience managing customer relationships within a transportation, logistics, or supply chain environment preferred
  • Experience pricing and quoting domestic freight
  • Experience with carrier rate negotiation, capacity management, and freight brokerage operations preferred
  • Experience managing time-sensitive, specialized, or complex freight preferred
  • Experience working with Transportation Management Systems (TMS) required
  • Strong customer relationship management and service orientation
  • Strong understanding of domestic freight brokerage and transportation operations
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong negotiation, influencing, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret operational, financial, and service data
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and working knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook, and other standard business applications
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills
  • High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with customers, carriers, and cross-functional teams

  • Regular in-person attendance at the assigned DSV location
  • Ability to use computers, telephones, TMS, and standard office equipment for extended periods
  • May occasionally need to reach, bend, and lift or move items weighing up to 20 pounds
