About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop the overall customer relationship via phone, email, and in-person communication
- Negotiate with transportation carriers and providers to obtain rates and determine available services
- Research and determine growth opportunities within branch house accounts
- Investigate, action, and establish new customer leads and opportunities
- Examine customer requests to provide best service options and pricing
- Proactively handle customer shipment requests
- Use the TMS system and input data to facilitate material movement, planning, and scheduling
- Provide direction and set pricing guidelines for the Carrier Sales team
- Monitor shipment tracking from pickup through delivery and communicate accurate information to customers and/or Key Account Managers
- Ensure customer expectations are met or exceeded through communication with the Carrier Sales team
- Track and trace shipments to ensure up-to-date shipment information
- Prepare spend reports and hold regular QBR or MBR check-ins with customers
- Perform other duties, responsibilities, and project work as assigned by the manager
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) required
- College degree in Business Administration, Logistics or Supply Chain Management preferred
- 3 years’ experience in logistics, transportation brokerage, or related field required; 5+ years preferred
- Experience with transportation management systems
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Teams and PowerPoint
- Solid analytical experience in Excel required
- High attention to detail and ability to multitask
- Strong organizational, prioritization, mathematical, interpersonal communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work under deadlines and in a team environment while delivering independent results
- Proficiency in using a Windows-based computer
- Ability to persuade, negotiate, and influence others
- Ability to work flexible hours
- Must be able to occasionally lift or carry items weighing up to 15 pounds
