About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop the overall customer relationship through phone, email and in-person communication
  • Negotiate with transportation carriers and providers to set rates and determine available services
  • Research growth opportunities within branch house accounts
  • Investigate and establish new customer leads and opportunities
  • Evaluate customer requests and provide service options and pricing
  • Handle customer shipment requests proactively
  • Use the transportation management system and input data to facilitate material movement, planning and scheduling
  • Provide direction and pricing guidelines for the Carrier Sales team
  • Monitor shipment progression from pickup through delivery and communicate updates to customers and/or Key Account Managers
  • Ensure customer expectations are met or exceeded through communication with the Carrier Sales team
  • Track and trace shipments
  • Prepare spend reports and conduct regular QBR or MBR customer check-ins
  • Perform other duties and project work assigned by the manager
  • Coordinate freight, resolve service issues, manage customer relationships and support day-to-day brokerage operations

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) required
  • College degree in Business Administration, Logistics or Supply Chain Management preferred
  • 3 years’ experience in logistics, transportation brokerage, or related field required; 5+ years preferred
  • Experience with transportation management systems
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Teams and PowerPoint
  • Solid analytical experience in Excel required
  • High attention to detail and ability to multitask
  • Strong organizational, prioritization, mathematical, interpersonal communication, problem-solving, persuasion, negotiation and influence skills
  • Ability to work under deadlines and in a team environment while delivering independent results
  • Proficiency using a Windows-based computer
  • Ability to work flexible hours
