About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Oversee day-to-day warehouse operational activities, including staff scheduling, inventory control, and productivity
  • Schedule warehouse personnel to ensure adequate staffing for shipping, receiving, and other activities
  • Direct shipping, receiving, sanitation, maintenance, and inventory-control operations
  • Monitor productivity reports and manage labor hours to meet budget requirements and warehouse goals
  • Oversee scratch rates, out-of-stock issues, receiving errors, selection errors, and product slotting
  • Maintain warehouse equipment through preventive maintenance and necessary repairs
  • Coordinate warehouse safety programs with the Warehouse Manager in compliance with OSHA and other regulations
  • Ensure a clean and safe work environment
  • Foster a collaborative work environment and work closely with other departments for seamless operations and service delivery
  • Coordinate activities and initiatives through phone, email, and web conferencing
  • Develop operational-performance metrics and identify improvement areas with the Warehouse Manager
  • Use data-driven approaches to optimize processes and achieve operational goals
  • Manage and lead warehouse personnel, including recruitment, training, performance management, and succession planning
  • Coach and support employees to maintain motivation and productivity
  • Train new employees on warehouse systems and procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support warehouse and organizational goals

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 5 years of experience in transportation and logistics management with supervisory or managerial responsibilities is preferred
  • Experience in the freight forwarding industry or related fields
  • Gateway and/or airline ground handling experience is advantageous
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Leadership and team-building abilities
  • Deep knowledge of logistics processes, regulations, and industry best practices
  • Strong knowledge of warehouse operations and business processes
  • Results-driven with decision-making and problem-solving abilities
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation communication skills
  • Organized and able to work effectively in a diverse environment
  • Knowledge of TSA and Customs & Border Protection regulations is preferred
  • Fluent in English, oral and written
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Outlook, and Word
  • Knowledge of warehouse management systems is a plus
  • Ability to work extensive and occasionally staggered hours for multi-shift access
  • Minimal domestic and international travel may be required
