About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Supervise inbound, outbound, product slotting, and customer communication activities
  • Manage labor scheduling, space utilization, equipment, and manpower
  • Hire, train, assign, supervise, and evaluate warehouse staff
  • Conduct staff meetings and plan daily and weekly work activities
  • Keep senior management and client representatives informed of critical operational issues
  • Develop systems and procedures for safe, profitable, and efficient operations
  • Manage productivity, service goals, client KPIs, and quality-system requirements
  • Implement and report cost-saving measures
  • Plan daily work schedules based on work orders, arrival notices, customer instructions, priorities, and available resources
  • Assign warehouse duties and monitor work quality and quantity
  • Plan warehouse-space reorganizations and changes to supply, equipment, and staffing levels
  • Train new staff and assess trainee progress
  • Assign supervisory duties to experienced team leads
  • Communicate progress and problems to the Manager or Operations/General Manager
  • Support team motivation, development, performance reviews, promotions, and wage-increase recommendations
  • Ensure team proficiency in required information systems, including WMS
  • Manage customer-service standards and attend meetings with key customers
  • Support marketing, sales, new-account strategies, prospecting, and quoting-rate development
  • Support annual operating-budget development and operational cost controls
  • Manage sanitation, maintenance, security, housekeeping, safety, and material-handling equipment programs
  • Audit warehouse compliance with safety, security, quality, and statutory requirements
  • Assist with physical operations and perform other duties as required

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school diploma or GED
  • 3 years of experience working in a logistics, distribution, or relevant environment
  • 1 year of experience in a supervisory role
  • Able to operate material handling equipment (MHE)
  • Satisfactory completion of a forklift training program
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Experience with RF scanners
  • Knowledge of WMS functions
  • English reading, writing, and verbal skills
  • Business communication skills
  • Basic to intermediate mathematical skills for verifying product quantities and counting inventory
  • Able to work flexible schedules, including nights and weekends
  • Able to participate in cross-training activities
  • Able to adapt effectively to change and thrive in a fast-paced work environment
  • Able to lift up to 40 lbs using proper lifting procedures
  • Able to stand for up to 8 hours per day
  • Preferred: Some college
  • Preferred: 2–4 years of supervisory experience
  • Preferred: 2–4 years of forklift experience
  • Preferred: Current or prior MHE certification
