About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Supervise labor management and daily inbound, outbound, product slotting, and customer communication activities
  • Plan labor scheduling, space utilization, equipment, and manpower
  • Hire and train employees; plan and assign daily work
  • Conduct performance appraisals and address performance issues
  • Supervise receiving, warehousing, and shipping operations under the Operations Manager or Distribution Center Manager
  • Conduct staff meetings and support continuous improvement
  • Keep senior management and client representatives informed of critical operational issues
  • Develop systems and procedures for safe, profitable operations
  • Manage operations to meet productivity, service, quality, and client KPI goals
  • Implement and report cost-saving measures
  • Provide direction and support to Human Resources
  • Assist with hiring, training, professional development, promotions, wage increases, and other HR activities
  • Train and evaluate warehouse staff
  • Review work orders and arrival notices, assess priorities, and assign warehouse duties
  • Plan warehouse space reorganizations and changes to supply, equipment, and staffing levels
  • Monitor work quality and quantity, providing guidance as needed
  • Assign supervisory duties to experienced team members
  • Keep the Manager advised of progress and problems
  • Assist with physical operations as needed
  • Maintain team motivation and customer satisfaction
  • Provide growth and development opportunities
  • Support and train team members in corporate and client SOP adherence

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school diploma or GED
  • 3 years’ experience working in a logistics, distribution, or relevant environment
  • 1 year experience in a supervisory role
  • Satisfactory completion of a forklift training program
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
  • Experience with RF scanners
  • Knowledge of WMS functions
  • English reading, writing, and verbal skills
  • Spanish reading, writing, and verbal skills required
  • Basic to intermediate mathematical skills for verifying quantities, counting inventory, and related duties
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Good organizational and personnel skills
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Good leadership, supervision, and planning skills
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including nights and weekends
  • Ability to participate in cross-training activities
  • Ability to adapt to change and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work overtime as required
  • Ability to work in unregulated warehouse temperatures
  • Ability to perform physical requirements including walking, standing, bending, lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling 11–20 pounds, and reaching above shoulder, squatting, or kneeling
