About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Supervise inbound, outbound, product slotting, and customer communication activities
  • Manage labor, scheduling, space utilization, equipment, and manpower
  • Supervise receiving, warehousing, and shipping operations under the Operations Manager or Distribution Center Manager
  • Conduct staff meetings and support continuous improvement
  • Keep senior management and client representatives informed of critical operational issues
  • Develop systems and procedures for safe, profitable operations
  • Manage operations to meet productivity, service, quality, and client KPI goals
  • Implement and report cost-saving measures
  • Supervise, counsel, motivate, and discipline team members as needed
  • Support Human Resources and assist with hiring, training, professional development, promotions, wage increases, and other HR activities
  • Train and evaluate warehouse staff
  • Plan daily work schedules based on work orders, arrival notices, customer instructions, priorities, and available resources
  • Assign duties and supervisory responsibilities to warehouse staff and lead team members
  • Review pending jobs and trends and plan warehouse space, supply, equipment, and staffing changes
  • Monitor work quality and quantity and provide guidance
  • Advise the Manager of daily progress and problems
  • Assist with physical operations as needed
  • Provide growth and development opportunities and conduct annual performance reviews
  • Support and train team members in adherence to corporate and client SOPs

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • 3 years’ experience working in a logistics/distribution/relevant environment
  • 1 year experience in a supervisory role
  • Prior MHE certification / knowledge of basic MHE operation preferred
  • Satisfactory completion of a forklift training program
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Work, and Power Point)
  • Experience with RF Scanners
  • Knowledge of WMS functions
  • English reading, writing, and verbal skills
  • Business communication
  • Basic to intermediate mathematical skills to verify product quantities, count inventory, or perform related duties
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Good organizational and personnel skills
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Good leadership, supervision, and planning skills
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including nights and weekends, as required
  • Ability to work overtime as dictated by the business
  • Ability to work in unregulated warehouse temperatures
  • Ability to adapt to change and thrive in a fast-paced work environment
  • Ability to participate in cross-training activities
  • Physical ability to bend, walk, stand, sit, lift/carry and push/pull 1–20 pounds, and reach above shoulder, squat, or kneel
