About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Supervise inbound, outbound, product slotting, and customer communication activities
  • Manage labor, schedules, space utilization, equipment, and manpower
  • Hire and train staff; plan and assign daily work
  • Conduct performance appraisals and address performance issues
  • Supervise receiving, warehousing, and shipping operations in line with service and cost objectives
  • Conduct staff meetings and support continuous improvement
  • Keep senior management and client representatives informed of critical operational issues
  • Develop systems and procedures for safe, profitable operations
  • Manage productivity, service goals, client KPIs, quality requirements, and operating-agreement compliance
  • Implement and report cost-saving measures
  • Provide direction and support to Human Resources
  • Assist with hiring, training, professional development, promotions, wage increases, and other HR activities
  • Train and evaluate warehouse staff and assess trainee progress
  • Plan daily work using work orders, arrival notices, and customer instructions
  • Assign warehouse duties and review staffing, supplies, equipment, and warehouse-space needs
  • Monitor job quantity and quality, provide guidance, and assign supervisory duties to leads
  • Keep the Manager advised of daily progress and problems
  • Assist in physical operations as needed
  • Maintain team motivation and customer satisfaction
  • Provide team growth and development opportunities
  • Conduct or provide input for annual performance reviews
  • Support and train team members in corporate and client Standard Operating Procedures

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • 3 years’ experience working in a logistics, distribution, or relevant environment
  • 1 year experience in a supervisory role
  • Satisfactory completion of a forklift training program
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
  • Experience with RF scanners
  • Knowledge of WMS functions
  • English reading, writing, and verbal proficiency
  • Business communication skills
  • Basic to intermediate mathematical skills for verifying quantities, counting inventory, and related warehouse duties
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Good organizational and personnel skills
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Good leadership, supervision, and planning skills
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including nights and weekends, as required
  • Ability to participate in cross-training activities
  • Ability to adapt to change and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Willingness to work mandatory or voluntary overtime as dictated by business needs
  • Ability to work in unregulated warehouse temperatures
  • Ability to perform the physical demands of the role, including walking, standing, sitting, bending, reaching above shoulder, squatting, kneeling, and lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling 11–20 pounds
