About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Act as the primary point of contact for clients and understand their shipping needs
- Provide proactive shipment-status updates and communicate delays or issues
- Coordinate transportation, including cargo-space bookings, pickups, and shipping schedules
- Optimize freight routing to minimize costs and transit times
- Prepare and manage bills of lading, customs declarations, and export/import permits
- Ensure compliance with international trade and customs requirements
- Liaise with carriers, airlines, and transportation providers to negotiate rates and secure capacity
- Monitor carrier performance and service levels
- Resolve delays, damages, customs-clearance issues, and other disruptions
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on timely solutions
- Address client inquiries and proactively resolve potential issues
- Identify and mitigate regulatory, security, and insurance risks
- Implement risk-mitigation strategies and contingency plans
- Identify process improvements and implement best practices and standard operating procedures to improve service quality and profitability
Requirements
What you’ll need- A Bachelor's degree in business, logistics, or a related field is required
- 3-5 years of experience in freight forwarding, logistics, or a related field
- Strong knowledge of international shipping regulations, INCO terms, and customs procedures
- Proficiency in logistics software and systems, such as freight management platforms and ERP systems
- Knowledge of air freight logistics and customs regulations
- Understanding of trade laws and regulations
- Fluency in English is required
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Professional certifications in freight forwarding, such as IATA or NCBFAA, may be preferred
- Experience managing a team and working with clients is preferred
- Knowledge of additional languages is a plus
- Experience with logistics software and systems is preferred
- Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving and analytical skills
