About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Act as the primary point of contact for clients and understand their shipping needs and requirements
  • Provide proactive communication and updates on shipment status, delays, and issues
  • Coordinate transportation, including booking cargo space, arranging pickups, and managing shipping schedules
  • Ensure efficient routing and optimize freight movements to minimize costs and transit times
  • Prepare and manage bills of lading, customs declarations, and export/import permits
  • Ensure compliance with international trade regulations and customs requirements
  • Liaise with carriers, airlines, and transportation providers to negotiate rates, secure capacity, and resolve operational issues
  • Monitor carrier performance and service levels
  • Address transportation disruptions, including delays, damages, and customs clearance issues
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to find timely solutions
  • Provide exceptional customer service and promptly address client inquiries and concerns
  • Identify and mitigate transportation risks and implement contingency plans
  • Identify process improvements and efficiency gains in freight forwarding operations
  • Implement best practices and standard operating procedures to enhance service quality and profitability

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in business, logistics, or a related field is required
  • 3-5 years of experience in freight forwarding, logistics, or a related field
  • Professional certifications in freight forwarding, such as IATA or NCBFAA, may be preferred
  • Experience managing a team and working with clients is preferred
  • Strong knowledge of international shipping regulations, INCO terms, and customs procedures
  • Proficiency in logistics software and systems, such as freight management platforms and ERP systems
  • Knowledge of air freight logistics and customs regulations
  • Understanding of trade laws and regulations
  • Fluency in English is required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with logistics software and systems is preferred
