About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide HR leadership and guidance for the state of Georgia
  • Support the Road division in Canada
  • Deliver a full spectrum of human resource programs
  • Oversee hiring, retention, termination, personnel records, legal compliance, compensation, benefits, payroll, orientation, training, and administrative functions
  • Implement, interpret, and administer personnel and labor relations programs, projects, and initiatives aligned with company goals
  • Administer employment, employee relations, labor relations, compensation, performance management, benefits, recognition, training, staffing, and workforce communication programs
  • Remain visible and accessible to employees and management; conduct site visits as needed
  • Ensure compliance with Equal Employment Opportunity, Affirmative Action, company policies, employee safety, workers’ compensation, and OSHA requirements
  • Provide leadership, guidance, feedback, and best practices to employees, peers, and management
  • Deliver supervisory training and improve supervisory skills
  • Hire, train, evaluate, and terminate assigned personnel
  • Manage procedures for new hires, promotions, transfers, leaves of absence, grievances, and terminations
  • Ensure personnel files are properly maintained
  • Manage unit activities and coordinate with internal and external representatives on operations, scheduling, projects, due diligence, and assimilation
  • Use customer feedback to monitor projects, identify process problems, and implement improvements
  • Travel domestically as required, generally by airplane

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business, or a related field and 7 years’ experience working in Human Resource field required, or equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Minimum 5 years of employee relations and performance management experience
  • Minimum 5 years of recruitment experience
  • Minimum 2 years of freight forwarding/transportation industry experience
  • Strong proficiency in basic MS Office applications
  • Experience using HRIS systems; SAP SuccessFactors is a plus
  • Experience using helpdesk ticket systems; Zendesk is a plus
  • English reading, writing, and verbal skills
  • Intermediate mathematical skills
  • General working knowledge of human resources
  • Knowledge of ERISA, employment, and labor laws and regulations required
  • Strong interpersonal communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to attend to detail, work under pressure, and prioritize
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive situations
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity, cope with change, and adapt to shifting priorities
  • Recognized HR Professional Certification (SHRM) preferred
  • Advanced Excel skills, change management experience, project management experience, and bilingual English/Spanish preferred
