About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Ensure compliance with all relevant customs and foreign trade requirements across the DACH region
Monitor and assess relevant changes in customs and foreign trade law, and analyze their impact on business processes
Communicate and coordinate with customs authorities and other relevant government agencies
Handle operational inquiries from all branches and stakeholders
Evaluate the internal control system (ICS) and implement appropriate measures
Organize, prepare for, and support internal and external audits, process audits, and customs inspections
Manage, prioritize, and coordinate team tasks and resources
Support the professional and personal development of employees
Advise and support branches on customs-related matters

Requirements

What you’ll need

Completed vocational training as a Freight Forwarding and Logistics Services Clerk or comparable qualifications
Several years of professional experience in Customs or a dedicated Compliance department, ideally in an international company
Initial people management experience is an advantage
Good knowledge of relevant import and export processes
Experience working with customs authorities and supporting customs inspections
Experience with customs management systems and/or ERP systems is an advantage
Experience in process management, compliance, or internal control systems is desirable
Strong analytical skills and a solution-oriented approach to problem-solving
Excellent communication skills, with a strong service and customer focus
Fluency in German and very good written and spoken English
Ability to work independently
Willingness to travel is desirable
