About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Supervise inbound, outbound, product slotting, and customer communication activities
  • Manage labor scheduling, space utilization, equipment, and manpower
  • Hire and train employees, assign daily work, conduct performance appraisals, address performance issues, and resolve problems
  • Supervise receiving, warehousing, and shipping operations consistent with service and cost objectives
  • Conduct staff meetings and plan continuous improvement activities
  • Keep senior management and client representatives informed of critical operational issues
  • Develop systems and procedures for safe and profitable operations
  • Manage operations to meet productivity, service, quality, and client KPI goals
  • Implement and report cost-saving measures
  • Provide direction and support to Human Resources
  • Assist with hiring, training, professional development, promotions, wage increases, and other HR activities
  • Train and evaluate warehouse staff
  • Plan daily work schedules using work orders, arrival notices, customer instructions, priorities, and available resources
  • Assign duties to warehouse staff and experienced team leads
  • Review pending jobs and trends and plan warehouse-space, supply, equipment, and staffing changes
  • Monitor work quality and quantity, providing guidance and advice
  • Keep the Manager advised of daily progress and problems
  • Hold regular warehouse staff meetings and communicate new developments
  • Assist with physical operations as needed
  • Support and train team members on corporate and client SOPs
  • Provide growth and development opportunities and input for annual performance reviews
  • Maintain team motivation and focus on customer satisfaction

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • 3 years’ experience working in a logistics, distribution, or relevant environment
  • 1 year experience in a supervisory role
  • Satisfactory completion of a forklift training program
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
  • Experience with RF scanners
  • Knowledge of WMS functions
  • English reading, writing, and verbal skills
  • Business communication skills
  • Basic to intermediate mathematical skills for verifying product quantities, counting inventory, and related duties
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Good organizational and personnel skills
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Good leadership, supervision, and planning skills
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including nights and weekends, as required
  • Ability to participate in cross-training activities
  • Ability to adapt to change and thrive in a fast-paced work environment
  • Ability to work mandatory or voluntary overtime as dictated by the business
  • Ability to work in unregulated warehouse temperatures
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull 11–20 pounds; reach above shoulder, squat, or kneel
  • Preferred: prior MHE certification or knowledge of basic MHE operation
