About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Supervise inbound, outbound, product slotting, and customer communication activities
  • Manage labor, scheduling, space utilization, equipment, and manpower
  • Hire and train staff, assign daily work, conduct performance appraisals, address performance issues, and resolve problems
  • Supervise receiving, warehousing, and shipping operations under the Operations Manager or Distribution Center Manager
  • Conduct staff meetings and review daily and weekly work activities
  • Keep senior management and client representatives informed of critical operational issues
  • Develop systems and procedures for safe and profitable operations
  • Manage operations to meet productivity, service, quality, KPI, and cost objectives
  • Implement and report cost-saving measures
  • Support Human Resources with hiring, training, professional development, promotions, wage increases, and other HR activities
  • Train and evaluate warehouse staff and assess trainee progress
  • Plan daily work schedules using work orders, arrival notices, and customer instructions
  • Assign duties to warehouse staff and experienced team leads
  • Review pending jobs, warehouse space, supplies, equipment, and staffing needs
  • Monitor work quality and quantity, providing guidance as needed
  • Advise the Manager of daily progress and problems
  • Assist with physical operations as needed
  • Motivate team members and provide growth and development opportunities
  • Provide input and conduct annual performance reviews
  • Support and train team members on corporate and client SOPs

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • 3 years’ experience working in a logistics/distribution/relevant environment
  • 1 year experience in a supervisory role
  • Satisfactory completion of a forklift training program
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
  • Experience with RF scanners
  • Knowledge of WMS functions
  • English reading, writing, and verbal skills
  • Business communication skills
  • Basic to intermediate mathematical skills for verifying product quantities, counting inventory, and related duties
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Good organizational and personnel skills
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Good leadership, supervision, and planning skills
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including nights and weekends, as required
  • Ability to work mandatory or voluntary overtime as dictated by business needs
  • Ability to work in unregulated warehouse temperatures
  • Ability to adapt to change and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Preferred: Prior MHE certification / knowledge of basic MHE operation
  • Ability to meet physical requirements, including walking, standing, bending, lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling 11–20 pounds, reaching above shoulder, squatting, and kneeling
