About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Oversee day-to-day activities of company drivers to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant transportation operations
  • Supervise and provide leadership, performance monitoring, coaching, and ongoing support to a team of drivers
  • Conduct regular driver performance reviews and provide constructive feedback
  • Foster a collaborative team environment focused on safety, accountability, and high performance
  • Address and resolve driver-related operational issues, escalating concerns when necessary
  • Plan, review, and optimize transportation routes to improve fuel efficiency, reduce deadhead miles, and ensure safe, on-time freight delivery
  • Monitor traffic, weather, and route constraints and adjust operations as necessary
  • Ensure compliance with DOT regulations, federal and state transportation laws, and company policies
  • Conduct regular driver meetings focused on safety, operational updates, compliance expectations, and team communication
  • Collaborate with customer service and operations teams to resolve delivery concerns and customer issues
  • Support initiatives improving service quality, operational efficiency, and transportation performance
  • Use Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and related technology tools to manage driver operations and track performance
  • Train and guide drivers on company technology platforms and operational systems
  • Review and approve operational documentation, reports, and driver-related records
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
  • Work across office and active yard and warehouse environments, responding to time-sensitive transportation issues and supporting driver scheduling and service continuity

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Transportation, Business, or a related field preferred
  • Equivalent industry experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
  • Previous experience in transportation operations, fleet management, or logistics required
  • Prior supervisory or leadership experience within transportation, trucking, or logistics operations preferred
  • Working knowledge of Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and transportation compliance requirements
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities with strong attention to operational detail
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced transportation environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Strong analytical mindset
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Experience working with Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and operational technology platforms preferred
  • Ability to work across office, yard, and warehouse environments and comply with safety protocols and PPE requirements
  • Ability to sit for extended periods and stand, walk, and move throughout yard and warehouse environments
  • Occasional extended hours may be required
