About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Ensure the safe and efficient condition of the facility and equipment
  • Train and develop facilities specialists
  • Perform or manage general maintenance and simple repairs involving plumbing, carpentry, painting, mechanical, electrical, and custodial work
  • Execute and maintain preventative maintenance systems for the building and equipment
  • Perform routine and long-term preventative maintenance
  • Collaborate with site management on inspections of material handling equipment, heating and cooling systems, mechanical and electrical systems, and plumbing
  • Inspect, maintain, and repair the building and equipment
  • Ensure daily operation of building and material handling equipment
  • Maintain equipment and report building or equipment problems
  • Identify, report, and correct safety hazards
  • Ensure a safe work site during repairs and maintenance
  • Identify sources of problems and recommend resolutions
  • Inspect, diagnose, and make emergency repairs to facility equipment and furnishings
  • Determine methods and priorities for work assignments and repairs
  • Operate forklifts, reach trucks, sweepers, scrubbers, scissor lifts, cherry pickers, pallet jacks, and common hand or power tools
  • Maintain active forklift certification and follow Basic Safety Forklift Guidelines
  • Perform or assist with grounds maintenance
  • Maintain warehouse and work area organization and cleanliness
  • Comply with standard operating procedures, corporate and site policies, safety rules, and OSHA/MSDS standards
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school Diploma or GED required
  • Maintenance certifications or degree preferred
  • 5+ years of general facilities, systems maintenance, and repair work experience and/or other training
  • Equivalent combination of education and/or experience considered
  • Intermediate computer skills
  • Satisfactory completion of a forklift training program
  • English reading, writing, and verbal skills
  • Intermediate math skills
  • Professional reading and writing skills
  • Ability to troubleshoot general maintenance and service problems
  • Ability to read and follow manufacturer's instruction manuals
  • Ability to identify problems or potential problems and take initiative to correct them
  • Ability to work flexible and on-call schedules as dictated by the business
  • Working knowledge of methods, practices, and tools related to facilities and systems maintenance and repair, including plumbing, HVAC, electrical, carpentry, and mechanical systems preferred
  • Prior or current experience using material handling equipment preferred
  • Ability to work in unregulated warehouse temperatures
  • Ability to lift, carry, and push/pull 21–50 pounds
  • Ability to perform frequent bending, reaching, and regular lifting or moving of packages up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to work in operational, high-risk, hazardous, and/or refrigerated environments
