About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Supervise inbound, outbound, product slotting, and customer communication activities
- Manage labor scheduling, space utilization, equipment, and manpower
- Hire and train staff, plan and assign daily work, conduct performance appraisals, address performance issues, and resolve problems
- Supervise receiving, warehousing, and shipping operations under the Operations Manager or Distribution Center Manager
- Conduct staff meetings and support continuous improvement
- Keep senior management and client representatives informed of critical operational issues
- Develop and implement systems and procedures for safe, profitable operations
- Manage productivity, service goals, client KPIs, quality requirements, and operating-agreement terms
- Implement and report cost-saving measures and improve operational efficiency
- Provide direction and support to Human Resources, including hiring, training, professional development, promotions, and wage-increase recommendations
- Train and evaluate warehouse staff and assign supervisory duties to experienced team members
- Plan daily work based on work orders, arrival notices, customer instructions, priorities, and available resources
- Review warehouse-space organization, supply levels, equipment, and staffing needs
- Monitor work quality and quantity, provide guidance, and keep the Manager informed of progress or problems
- Assist in physical operations as needed
- Motivate team members and provide growth and development opportunities
- Conduct or provide input for annual performance reviews
- Support and train team members on corporate and client SOPs
Requirements
What you’ll need- Must have a High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- 3 years’ experience working in a logistics/distribution/relevant environment
- 1 year experience in a supervisory role
- Preferred: Prior MHE certification / knowledge of basic MHE operation
- Must comply with corporate and site-specific policies
- Must meet company objectives for performance, safety, and quality
- Must support adherence to corporate and client Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
