About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Supervise labor management and daily inbound, outbound, product slotting, and customer communication activities
- Plan labor schedules, space utilization, equipment, and manpower
- Hire and train staff, assign daily work, conduct performance appraisals, address performance issues, and resolve problems
- Supervise receiving, warehousing, and shipping operations under the Operations Manager or Distribution Center Manager
- Conduct staff meetings and support continuous improvement
- Keep senior management and client representatives informed of critical operational issues
- Develop systems and procedures for safe, profitable operations and meet productivity, service, KPI, and quality goals
- Implement and report cost-saving measures and suggest operational efficiencies
- Manage, motivate, counsel, and discipline team members while supporting Human Resources
- Assist with hiring, training, professional development, promotions, wage increases, and other HR activities
- Plan daily work using work orders, arrival notices, customer instructions, priorities, and available resources
- Review warehouse trends and plan space, supply, equipment, and staffing changes
- Train new staff, assess trainee progress, and delegate training responsibilities
- Monitor job quantity and quality, provide guidance, and assign lead responsibilities
- Keep the Manager and warehouse staff informed of progress, problems, and new developments
- Assist in physical operations as needed
- Provide team development opportunities and conduct or contribute to annual performance reviews
- Support and train team members on corporate and client SOPs
Requirements
What you’ll need- Must have a High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- 3 years’ experience working in a logistics/distribution/relevant environment
- 1 year experience in a supervisory role
- Prior MHE certification / knowledge of basic MHE operation preferred
- Satisfactory completion of a forklift training program
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Work, and Power Point)
- Experience with RF Scanners
- Knowledge of WMS functions
- English (reading, writing, verbal)
- Business communication
- Basic to intermediate mathematical skills to verify product quantities, count inventory, and perform related warehouse duties
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Good organizational and personnel skills
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Good leadership, supervision, and planning skills
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including nights and weekends, as required
- Ability to work overtime as dictated by business needs
- Ability to work in unregulated warehouse temperatures
- Ability to perform the stated physical demands, including walking, standing, sitting, bending, lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling 11–20 pounds, and reaching above shoulder, squatting, or kneeling
