About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Supervise inbound, outbound, product slotting, and customer communication activities
  • Manage labor scheduling, space utilization, equipment, and manpower
  • Hire and train staff, assign daily work, conduct performance appraisals, address performance issues, and resolve problems
  • Supervise receiving, warehousing, and shipping operations consistent with service and cost objectives
  • Conduct staff meetings and support continuous improvement
  • Keep senior management, client representatives, and the Operations Manager or Distribution Center Manager informed of critical issues and progress
  • Develop systems and procedures for safe and profitable operations
  • Manage operations to meet productivity, service, KPI, quality, and client operating-agreement requirements
  • Implement and report cost-saving measures
  • Support human resources activities, including hiring, training, development, promotions, wage increases, and performance evaluations
  • Plan daily work schedules using work orders, arrival notices, customer instructions, priorities, and available resources
  • Assign duties and supervisory responsibilities to warehouse staff and leads
  • Review pending jobs, warehouse-space organization, supplies, equipment, and staffing needs
  • Train new staff, assess trainee progress, and provide ongoing guidance
  • Assist with physical operations as needed
  • Maintain team motivation and customer satisfaction
  • Support and train team members on corporate and client SOPs
  • Participate in cross-training activities

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 3 years’ experience working in a logistics, distribution, or relevant environment
  • 1 year of experience in a supervisory role
  • Satisfactory completion of a forklift training program
  • Prior MHE certification or knowledge of basic MHE operation preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Experience with RF scanners
  • Experience with WMS functions
  • English reading, writing, and verbal skills
  • Basic to intermediate mathematical skills for verifying quantities, counting inventory, and related warehouse duties
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Good organizational, personnel, communication, leadership, supervision, and planning skills
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including nights and weekends
  • Ability to work overtime as dictated by business needs
  • Ability to adapt to change and thrive in a fast-paced work environment
  • Ability to work in unregulated warehouse temperatures
  • Ability to perform the stated physical demands, including walking, standing, sitting, bending, lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling 11–20 pounds, reaching above shoulder, squatting, and kneeling
