About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Oversee day-to-day freight handling operations to ensure timely and efficient movement of goods
Lead and supervise freight handlers and operational staff
Assign tasks, provide guidance, monitor performance, and conduct evaluations
Coordinate loading, unloading, and handling of freight shipments
Ensure proper documentation, labeling, and packaging in compliance with regulations
Plan and prioritize freight operations to meet customer demands and deadlines
Monitor workflow and adjust resources to optimize efficiency
Liaise with customers, carriers, and other stakeholders regarding freight movements and issues
Ensure timely communication and resolution of customer concerns
Implement quality control measures and conduct inspections and audits
Enforce safety protocols, conduct safety training, and guide proper handling techniques
Oversee inventory control, stock management, cycle counts, and reconciliation
Maintain accurate inventory records and freight movement documentation, including bills of lading and shipping manifests
Prepare operational reports covering performance metrics, inventory levels, and incidents
Mentor freight handling teams through training, coaching, and performance evaluations

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, or a related field
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in freight operations or logistics roles
Demonstrated experience in supervisory or leadership positions
Strong leadership and team management skills
Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities
Knowledge of freight handling processes and regulatory requirements
Proficiency in warehouse management systems (WMS) and transportation management systems (TMS)
Strong communication and customer service skills
Fluent in English (oral and written)
Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Certification in logistics or supply chain management (e.g., CLTD, CSCP) preferred
Experience with international freight operations and customs clearance processes preferred
Knowledge of industry-specific regulations and compliance standards preferred
