About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Supervise inbound, outbound, product slotting, and customer communication activities
- Manage labor scheduling, space utilization, equipment, and manpower
- Hire and train staff, plan and assign daily work, conduct performance appraisals, address performance issues, and resolve problems
- Supervise receiving, warehousing, and shipping operations under the direction of the Operations Manager or Distribution Center Manager
- Conduct staff meetings and support continuous improvement
- Keep senior management and client representatives informed of critical operational issues
- Develop systems and procedures for safely and profitably managing operations, equipment, and products
- Manage operations to meet productivity, service, quality, and client KPI objectives
- Implement and report cost-saving measures
- Provide direction and support to Human Resources
- Support hiring, training, professional development, promotions, wage increases, and other HR activities
- Train and evaluate warehouse staff
- Plan daily work schedules using work orders, arrival notices, and customer instructions
- Assign duties and adjust warehouse space, supplies, equipment, and staffing as needed
- Monitor work quality and quantity, provide guidance, and assign supervisory duties to team leads
- Keep the Manager informed of daily progress and problems
- Assist with physical operations as needed
- Motivate team members and support customer satisfaction
- Provide growth and development opportunities and conduct annual performance reviews
- Support and train team members on corporate and client Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
Requirements
What you’ll need- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- 3 years’ experience working in a logistics/distribution/relevant environment
- 1 year experience in a supervisory role
- Satisfactory completion of a forklift training program
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
- Experience with RF scanners
- Knowledge of WMS functions
- English reading, writing, and verbal skills
- Business communication skills
- Basic to intermediate mathematical skills for verifying quantities, counting inventory, and handling, storing, and distributing products
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Good organizational and personnel skills
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Good leadership, supervision, and planning skills
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including nights and weekends
- Ability to participate in cross-training activities
- Ability to adapt to change and work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work mandatory or voluntary overtime as dictated by business needs
- Ability to work in unregulated warehouse temperatures
- Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull 11–20 pounds and reach above shoulder, squat, or kneel
