About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Coordinate and oversee daily warehouse operational activities under the Operations Supervisor
- Oversee associates handling warehousing, receiving, and shipping activities
- Mentor and train new and existing associates on distribution activities and Standard Operating Procedures
- Assist with forklift operation and certification for associates
- Coordinate unloading inbound shipments, stacking product, picking, and staging outbound shipments
- Verify inbound and outbound paperwork, product counts, doors, and trailers
- Load orders accurately and efficiently
- Process shipping, receiving, and picking functions according to Standard Operating Procedures
- Research shipping and receiving discrepancies
- Communicate with customers by telephone, electronically, or in person
- Prepare accurate activity reports for site management
- Perform quality control checks, including verifying orders, reporting damages or discrepancies, and packaging, labeling, and shrink-wrapping products
- Report inconsistencies and problems to the Operations Supervisor or Operations Manager
- Participate in quality and safety meetings
- Execute safety protocols, maintain warehouse cleanliness, and comply with ISO, OSHA, MSDS, corporate, and site-specific standards
- Direct warehouse work-team operations and assist with productivity and payroll-hour records
- Assist with staffing levels, work schedules, job assignments, and quality procedures
- Participate in department meetings and address product, process, and quality non-conformities
- Operate and inspect forklifts and other material-handling equipment; perform minor maintenance and report equipment problems
- Perform or assist with building, grounds, and equipment maintenance
- Perform clerical and administrative tasks such as answering telephones, scheduling, greeting visitors, filing, and record keeping
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- High school diploma or GED
- 1 year of experience working in a logistics, distribution, or relevant environment
- Able to operate MHE
- Able to work in unregulated warehouse temperatures during warmer and colder months
- Satisfactory completion of a forklift training program
- Basic computer skills
- RF scanner experience
- WMS functions knowledge
- English reading, writing, and verbal skills
- Basic to intermediate mathematics skills for verifying quantities, counting inventory, and related duties
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to accomplish tasks in a timely manner
- Ability to perform duties with minimal supervision or guidance
- Ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with all organizational levels
- Ability to adapt to change and work in a fast-paced environment
- Willingness to work evenings and weekends as needed
- Willingness to work mandatory or voluntary overtime as dictated by business
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull 21–50 pounds
- Ability to walk and stand constantly, bend frequently, and perform reaching, squatting, or kneeling
- Preferred: 2–4 years of warehouse/logistics/distribution experience
- Preferred: 2–4 years of forklift experience
- Preferred: current or prior MHE certification
