About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Oversee processing, movement, and monitoring of all shipments while in transit
  • Lead and direct day-to-day desk-level operations of the Operations Department
  • Manage and coordinate shipments daily
  • Ensure compliance with DSV corporate guidelines and government regulations
  • Establish and coordinate carrier schedules and tender shipments
  • Champion processes and procedures to meet or exceed company KPI requirements
  • Prepare and publish reports as requested
  • Mentor and train new staff
  • Act as the first escalation point for operational and customer service issues
  • Identify problems and implement appropriate solutions
  • Manage shipment cost containment, evaluate shipments, consolidate loads, and select cost-effective delivery methods
  • Communicate with customers regarding relevant issues and resolutions
  • Manage new account implementation from standard operating procedure through execution
  • Assign and manage workflow
  • Oversee team performance, staff development, recognition, guidance, and coaching
  • Work with management to improve department operations and productivity
  • Provide operational coverage when operators or supervisors are absent
  • Support quality, health, safety, environmental, and sustainability objectives
  • Adhere to company policies, procedures, guidelines, and Code of Conduct

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Education in supply chain logistics, international transportation, or a related field of study
  • Minimum two (2) years’ experience in a freight forwarding environment
  • Good command of English, both verbally and in writing
  • Above average customer service skills
  • Interpersonal skills for building professional relationships internally and externally
  • Demonstrated leadership and management skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to manage tight deadlines
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Attention to detail and punctuality
  • Ability to communicate effectively in a diverse multicultural environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • CIFFA certificate, an asset
  • Dangerous Goods certification, an asset
  • ACR designated status, an asset (for Airfreight only)
  • CargoWise and Tango experience, an asset
  • Ability to work regular hours and beyond them when required by business needs
