About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Coordinate and oversee daily warehouse operational activities under the Operations Supervisor
- Oversee associates involved in warehousing, receiving, and shipping
- Mentor and train new and existing associates on distribution activities and Standard Operating Procedures
- Assist with forklift operation and certification for associates
- Coordinate unloading inbound shipments, stacking products, and picking/staging outbound shipments
- Verify inbound and outbound paperwork, product counts, doors, and trailers
- Load orders accurately and efficiently
- Process shipping, receiving, and picking functions according to SOPs
- Research shipping and receiving discrepancies
- Communicate with customers by phone, electronically, or in person
- Prepare accurate activity reports for site management
- Verify product and order quality, document damages or discrepancies, and stack, package, shrink-wrap, and label products
- Report inconsistencies and problems to the Operations Supervisor or Operations Manager
- Participate in quality, department, and safety meetings
- Execute safety protocols and comply with ISO, OSHA/MSDS, corporate, site-specific, and SOP requirements
- Maintain warehouse cleanliness, orderliness, and security
- Direct warehouse work-team operations and assist with productivity and payroll-hour records
- Assist with staffing levels and participate in establishing work schedules
- Ensure schedules and job assignments are implemented effectively
- Initiate or recommend solutions for product, process, and quality-system nonconformities
- Operate and maintain warehouse equipment, including forklifts, reach trucks, pallet jacks, scissor lifts, cherry pickers, and related equipment
- Inspect equipment daily, perform minor maintenance, and report equipment problems
- Perform or assist with building, grounds, and equipment maintenance
- Perform clerical and administrative tasks such as answering telephones, scheduling, greeting visitors, filing, and record keeping
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- High school diploma or GED
- 1 year of experience working in a logistics, distribution, or relevant environment
- Ability to operate MHE
- Ability to work in unregulated warehouse temperatures ranging from mild to moderate during warmer and colder months
- Satisfactory completion of a forklift training program
- Basic computer skills
- RF scanner knowledge
- WMS functions knowledge
- English reading, writing, and verbal skills
- Basic to intermediate mathematical skills for verifying quantities, counting inventory, and related duties
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to perform duties with minimal supervision or guidance
- Ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with all organizational levels
- Ability to adapt to change and work in a stimulating, fast-paced environment
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull 21–50 pounds
- Willingness to work evenings and weekends as needed
- Willingness to work mandatory or voluntary overtime as business requires
- Must maintain an active forklift certification
- Preferred: 2–4 years of warehouse/logistics/distribution experience
- Preferred: 2–4 years of proven forklift experience
- Preferred: current or prior MHE certification
