About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Coordinate and oversee daily operational activities under the direction of the Operations Supervisor
- Oversee associates involved in warehousing, receiving, and shipping activities
- Mentor and train new and existing associates on distribution activities and Standard Operating Procedures
- Assist with forklift operation and certification
- Coordinate unloading inbound shipments, stacking products, and picking and staging outbound shipments
- Verify inbound and outbound paperwork, product counts, doors, and trailers
- Load orders efficiently and accurately
- Process shipping, receiving, and picking functions according to Standard Operating Procedures
- Research shipping and receiving discrepancies
- Communicate professionally with customers by telephone, electronically, or in person
- Prepare activity reports for site management
- Perform quality control checks, report damages and discrepancies, and stack, package, shrink-wrap, and label products
- Report inconsistencies and problems to the Operations Supervisor or Operations Manager
- Participate in quality and safety meetings
- Execute safety protocols and comply with ISO, OSHA/MSDS, corporate, site-specific, and Standard Operating Procedure requirements
- Maintain warehouse cleanliness, orderliness, and security
- Direct warehouse work-team operations and assist with productivity and payroll-hour records
- Assist with staffing levels and work schedules; ensure assignments and schedules are completed properly
- Initiate action and recommend solutions for product, process, and quality-system nonconformities
- Operate and maintain material-handling equipment, including forklifts, reach trucks, pallet jacks, lifts, and related equipment
- Inspect equipment daily and perform minor maintenance; report equipment problems
- Perform or assist with building, grounds, and equipment maintenance
- Perform clerical and administrative tasks such as answering phones, scheduling, greeting visitors, filing, and record keeping
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- High school diploma or GED
- 1 year experience working in a logistics/distribution/relevant environment
- Able to operate MHE
- Ability to work in unregulated warehouse temperatures during warmer and colder months
- Satisfactory completion of a forklift training program
- Basic computer skills
- RF Scanners
- WMS functions
- English reading, writing, and verbal skills
- Basic to intermediate mathematical skills for verifying quantities, counting inventory, and handling, storing, and distributing products
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to perform duties with minimal supervision or guidance
- Ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with all levels of the organization
- Ability to adapt to change and work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull 21–50 pounds
- Ability to walk and stand constantly; bend frequently; and reach above shoulder, reach outward, squat, or kneel
- Willingness to work evenings and weekends as needed
- Willingness to work mandatory or voluntary overtime as dictated by business
- Preferred: 2–4 years’ experience in a warehouse/logistics/distribution environment
- Preferred: 2–4 years’ proven forklift experience
- Preferred: current or prior MHE certification
