About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Responsible for accurately loading and unloading freight
  • Maintain inventory control, rotation, and inspection
  • Act as lead liaison and point of contact between the Warehouse Manager and assigned warehouse areas
  • Provide direction to warehouse employees while performing individual warehouse responsibilities
  • Safely operate forklifts and other material handling equipment, including sit-down, reach truck, cherry picker, and layer pick equipment
  • Load and unload inbound and outbound containers and sort freight by size and destination
  • Read, decode, and decipher freight coding to expedite freight movement and tracing
  • Reconcile driver pickup and delivery manifests
  • Label, weigh, and dimensionalize freight
  • Clean work areas to ensure dock safety and cleanliness
  • Record damaged shipments and misrouted freight on applicable reports
  • Communicate workload needs with the Warehouse Supervisor
  • Determine daily tasks and workloads and coordinate staffing with the Warehouse Supervisor
  • Delegate warehouse tasks in the assigned area
  • Identify system or process issues and communicate them to the Warehouse Supervisor
  • Coordinate trucking transportation in and out of the warehouse
  • Maintain warehouse storage and service quality standards while communicating with internal and external customers
  • Maintain and ensure a safe working environment
  • Complete other assigned duties
  • Train other warehousepersons

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Generally prefer 4-6 years of experience
  • Familiarity with OSHA regulations
  • Ability to operate a variety of equipment, including a forklift and a computer
  • Strong organizational, inventory, and accounting skills
  • Ability to push, pull, and lift varying weights up to 50+ lbs
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and use a high degree of initiative
  • Ability to coordinate staffing and delegate warehouse tasks
  • Ability to provide training to other warehousepersons
